THE MENTOR ROUTINE - Melbourne Only
MENTOR INFORMATION Each year a team of 'Mentors' are personally selected from our Intermediate & Advanced level dancers as well as our Le Bop teachers. As a mentor, you will each select a partner who has been dancing for less than 6 months or someone who has never participated in learning a routine before. HOW IT WORKS : The routine will be available to the Mentors online for you to learn & to refer to when coaching your 'mentoree'. The Mentor will not necessarily be leading the routine (ie: dancing the typical male role) but they are the more experienced in the partnership. Some Mentors may be females leading females if there are not enough male dancers available. The Mentor will not be responsible for teaching the participants the routine as they will be learning it in classes. The routine will be taught to participants during beginner classes over 5 weeks starting from Monday 30th August and concluding on Wednesday 29th September. Each week a new section of the routine will be taught. Each week's class routine forms the next section of the Mentor Routine. If a student misses their regular class they will have the opportunity to learn that section of the routine at any of the other venues that week. TO ASSIST YOU : The mentor will receive a discounted monthly pass for $50. This pass entitles you to attend as many Le Bop classes as you like within that month and can be purchased at any Le Bop class. When you register to take part in the Mentor Routine you will be given the opportunity to buy the pass for the following month. Please see the desk staff to arrange the monthly pass. Extra rehearsals with the entire mentor team will be held on:
Sunday 10th October @ 3:30 – 5:30pm Wednesday 13th October @ 6:30 – 7:30pm THE AIM : The mentor routine aims to achieve the following : • To create a fun and enhanced social environment during freestyle time at classes where students of all levels get to meet and dance with each other. • To invite and encourage new dancers to participate in learning a routine. • To have the largest group performance at the Le Bop ball ever (with over 45 couples). • To create an environment where experienced dancers are assisting new dancers to enjoy and improve their dancing. WHAT YOU NEED TO DO : Mentor's responsibilities over the 6 weeks leading up to the ball are to : Dance with their partner during the freestyle sessions : • ensure they know the section of the routine taught during that class. • connect it up with the moves from the previous classes. • help the student catch up on the moves if they have missed a class Teach a lift/ aerial move : • each couple will perform a lift / jump / aerial during a specific spot in the routine. • The move chosen does not need to be a difficult move. It can include moves such as the hip rest, rotating grape, hanger, first move hop or first move jump. • If the move is a higher level move it must be performed confidently and safely. Teach an opening pose : • each couple will be starting the routine in a different pose. Teach a dip / ending move: • each couple will perform a dip to finish off the routine. • the move chosen does not need to be a difficult move. It can include moves such the garbo, slam or astaire lean. SIGN UP & SAVE THE DATE! Contact us to confirm your place as a mentor & remember to lock in the Le Bop ball date OCTOBER 16TH
MENTOREE INFORMATION ATTENTION ALL BEGINNER LE BOPPERS We are inviting YOU to become a part of Le Bop tradition by joining in the fun with one of our exciting team routines The Mentor Routine! No matter how many Le Bop classes you have done, everyone can participate. Each of you will be assigned a personal ‘Mentor’ who will partner & assist you with learning & performing the routine. HOW IT WORKS : The routine will be taught during beginner classes over 5 weeks from Monday 30th August to Wednesday 29th September. A new section of the routine will be taught each week, but because all our Le Bop venues are teaching the same routine, if you miss a week, catching up is easy! 2 ADDITIONAL REHEARSALS : Sunday 10th October 3:30 – 5:30pm & Wednesday 13th October 6:30 – 7:30pm Where we all rehearse together before our performance at the Le Bop Ball on October 16th 2010!
